Familiarity breeds comfort
The City of Westminster College Paddington Green campus bought together in one huge new building what had been disparate groups of departmental specialist buildings.
The 24,000m2 space is home to 4,000 students – local and from across London and beyond.
The seven storey building winds around a vast atrium. Our challenge was to find a system to make the space intelligible.
We came up with something so simple it seemed like a no brainer. If it feels like a no brainer it’s usually because it works. We used postcode nomenclature and typography. It is a most familiar orientation system that absolutely belongs in London.
